Abstract

In EU law, the distinction between primary and secondary legislation is of great significance. The main sources of primary law are the treaties. They are the basis for secondary law. The most important acts of EU secondary law are the ones listed in Article 288 TFEU: regulations, directives, decisions, opinions and recommendations. Regulations and directives are the most notable types of secondary legislation.
