Abstract

When the AO founders gathered in Chur, at their first full 3-day course in March 1958, the group assigned Maurice Müller the task of creating an Instrumentarium. There was extensive discussion among the surgeons present and based on their hands-on experience with human cadaver bones, it became clear to all concerned that, to a considerable extent, successful Osteosynthesis depended on a dedicated and proprietary Instrumentarium suited to their surgical needs.

Violette Moraz-Müller became an active member of the AO organization, participating in research meetings and AO training courses. After she stepped away from the AO, her functions were transferred to Waldenburg where several employees from Straumann Company took over her responsibilities. Later on, she became also involved when her brother, Maurice Müller established Protek to market his hip implant designs.
