Abstract
Lymphoedema and especially secondary lymphoedema resulting from lymphatic filariasis are endemic in India. Extraordinary limb swelling, chronic wounds and pain are among the sequel of this condition. Treatment of this condition is dependent on a good diagnosis and, appropriate compression as developed by a dedicated team of professionals at the Institute of Applied Dermatology in Kasargod, India. This chapter describes the diagnosis and treatment of secondary lymphoedema from filariasis with evidence and assesses the benefits and limitations of its current practice.
