Abstract

Two-electron coincidence spectroscopy with spin-polarized incident electrons is an efficient instrument for studying exchange and spin-orbit interaction on surfaces, thin films and multi-layered structures. This technique can visualize the “exchange-correlation hole” and probe quantum correlation of spin-entangled electron pairs scattered from a surface. Numerous examples of the application of spin-polarized (e,2e) spectroscopy for studying spin-dependent phenomena in magnetic and nonmagnetic surfaces show how this technique may characterize and develop spin-active nanostructures.
