Abstract
In this chapter, we analyse the creditor and debtor statuses. In this domain, the European Union has put in place a number of disciplines, focusing its action primarily on protecting economic operators—in their capacity as creditors—and on facilitating business. In this regard, one might mention the legislation on combating late payments in commercial transactions, the European enforcement order, the order for payment procedure, and so on. So, the status of creditors in the European landscape has been strengthened to the point that some interpretations have started to conceive it not far from the area of property rights.
