Les méningiomes sont des processus expansifs bénins, fréquents, provenant de cellules arachnoïdiennes situées sur la face interne de la dure-mère. Ces cellules sont particulièrement abondantes dans les villosités arachnoïdiennes. Pour cette raison, les méningiomes auront tendance à se développer dans les régions où elles sont le plus fréquentes.
