Abstract

Ventral hernia repair has been the topic of great debate over the past two decades. The use of prosthetic material in the repair of incisional hernias has clearly been shown to be superior to primary repair (1). The issue of recurrence was definitively addressed by Luijendijk, et al., and shown to be 4–24% when mesh was utilized vs. 24–50% with primary repair (1).
