Internet révolutionne les formes de communication y compris celle de l’information médicale. Les patients douloureux chroniques en sont de grands consommateurs et fréquentes assidûment les forums [1]. Cette information — illimitée et en libre accès — influence leurs comportements et peut, ainsi, participer à leur éducation en matière de santé [2]. Internet contribue, en ce sens, à modifier la dynamique de la relation entre le patient douloureux et son praticien [3]. Les médecins de la douleur ont avantage à connaître et maîtriser cette nouvelle source d’informations. Une attitude qui les aidera à lever les malentendus et renforcer l’alliance thérapeutique pré- et postchirurgicale [4]. Pour les praticiens, le « réseau des réseaux » est également un outil précieux de formation continue dans un domaine — la neuromodulation — où l’amélioration des techniques est très rapide. De nombreuses ressources sont, aujourd’hui, disponibles gratuitement, que ce soit sous formes de pages d’information ou de vidéos de formation.
