Résumé

En 1953, Shelden observe qu’un traumatisme représente l’unique facteur commun de toutes les procédures efficaces dans le traitement de la névralgie du trijumeau (V)1. En 1955, il publie une série de vingt-neuf compressions directes par voie sous-temporale de la racine du V avec amélioration douloureuse [1]. Vingt ans après, Lichtor et Mullan réalisent une application percutanée de la même théorie [2] dont le succès mène en 1990 à la publication de plus de cent cas [3]. Depuis lors, la technique de microcompression du ganglion de Gasser par ballonnet est bien décrite et les cas de milliers de patients ont été publiés [4–7].
