Abstract
Placement of multiple trocars is a standard technique in most laparoscopic bariatric procedures. Wound healing, portal hernia and cosmetic results can lead to complications in this kind of surgery. Single port procedures seem to give better results but technical challenges and limited working space are major limitations. Through the cooperation of surgeons and robotic engineers, a magnetic remotely controllable video-endoscopic capsule device dedicated to mini-invasive surgery has been developed.
