Résumé
L’accueil est une cérémonie ou prestation réservée à un nouvel arrivant, consistant généralement à lui souhaiter la bienvenue et à l’aider dans son intégration ou ses démarches. Dans l’accueil du nouveau- né en salle de naissance, la sage- femme est la personne privilégiée qui pourrait mettre en place plusieurs stratégies pour faciliter le développement des liens mère- enfant- père de façon naturelle. Le déroulement de l’accueil en salle d’accouchement par la sage-femme doit se faire avec une surveillance minutieuse car c’est un moment précieux à la fois pour donner une bienvenue humanisée au nouveau- né et aussi s’assurer que tout se déroule sans complications.
Cet accueil du nouveau- né doit se faire dans un esprit de respect des besoins physiologiques, culturels et émotionnels de la nouvelle famille car c’est un moment à caractère exceptionnel pour la mère, le père et l’enfant. Les routines de soins doivent se limiter aux procédures indispensables tout en restant compatibles avec la sécurité de la mère et du nouveau-né.
