Résumé

Le thévetia ou laurier jaune est un arbuste de 3 à 5 mètres, ramifié dès la base, à longs rameaux flexibles. Bien que moins touffu, il ressemble beaucoup au laurier rose et contient, comme lui, un latex irritant; il s’en distingue à peine par les feuilles isolées, plus étroites et les grandes fleurs, d’un jaune soutenu, groupées à l’extrémité des rameaux. Leur corolle, en entonnoir, a des pétales qui se recouvrent comme si on les avait tordus (photo 31).
