Résumé
Face à une détresse vitale du sujet âgé, le système d’urgence préhospitalier est le premier maillon de la chaîne de l’urgence. Du fait de sa fragilité et de sa moindre capacité de résistance face à l’agression, cette population mérite une attention toute particulière. De plus, dès cette phase toute initiale, les facteurs liés au pronostic fonctionnel, à la qualité de vie ultérieure, les conséquences familiales, sociales et plus généralement les préoccupations éthiques et déontologiques ont leur place. L’enjeu de la mise en oeuvre ou non de thérapeutiques agressives se pose et il y a lieu de s’interroger sur la place et la légitimité d’éventuelles limitations des thérapeutiques actives (LATA) dans ce contexte très particulier.
