Résumé

Les glandes surrénales comportent deux entités fonctionnelles: la médullaire et le cortex. La médullaire est à l’origine de la production des hormones du système sympathique (adrénaline et noradrénaline). Le cortex surrénalien est constitué de trois zones sécrétant des hormones stéroïdes différentes. La zone glomérulée, située en superficie, synthétise les minéralocorticoïdes (aldostérone et accessoirement corticostérone), alors que la réticulée, située en profondeur, produit les androgènes faibles (déhydroépiandrostérone [DHEA], sulfate de DHEA, delta-4-androstenedione et 11-B-hydroxyandrostenedione). Enfin, la zone fasciculée du cortex surrénal synthétise les glucocorticoïdes: cortisol et cortisone.
