Abstract
In massive irreparable cuff tear, loss of active elevation and external rotation of the shoulder is very rare. The lack of active external rotation with the arm at the side (ER1) or in 90° of abduction (ER2) is associated with a severe atrophy or fatty infi ltration of the infraspinatus (IS) and teres minor (Tm) (1, 2).
