Abstract
In Canada, SNOMED CT® was identified by Canada Health Infoway as the best choice of terminology for the clinical content of the EHR. Canada is a bilingual country, therefore a French version of SNOMED CT is needed in order to fully support the EHR interoperability goals. Ajirst phase of translation of SNOMED CT® is actually carried on by the Centre d’expertise en sante de Sherbrooke. In this paper the authors present the methodology and tools used for this project, the results obtained, and discuss the lessons learned with this project so far. A French version of the SNOMED CT® would be a key enabler for implementing terminology standards in all countries using French in health care services.
