Dans une méta-analyse sur 1 106 articles publiés dans les Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, le Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery [Br] et le Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery [Am] entre janvier 1992 et décembre 2002, Harvie et al. ont dénombré 298 articles utilisant des scores d’évaluation, 126 (42,3 %) décrivaient les détails du score dans le texte, mais seulement huit (2,7 %) donnaient une explication claire pour le choix d’un certain score dans l’étude. Ci-joint une liste des principales échelles de mensuration utilisées dans la littérature, pour appréciation globale ou pour une pathologie particulière.
