Résumé
Les tumeurs de l’urètre sont des tumeurs rares. L’anatomie et l’histologie de l’urètre diffèrent beaucoup entre l’homme et la femme, ce qui explique la différence de présentation (1). Par convention, le tiers distal de l’urètre est l’urètre antérieur et les deux tiers proximaux correspondent à l’urètre postérieur. Le tiers proximal de l’urètre a un épithélium de type transitionnel alors que les deux tiers distaux ont un épithélium squameux. Chez la femme, l’urètre est un long conduit de 4 cm qui est oblique, du méat urétral interne au méat urétral externe. De multiples glandes annexes de Skene (analogue embryologique de la prostate chez l’homme, dérivé du sinus urogénital) sécrètent un mucus qui permet la lubrification de l’urètre durant l’acte sexuel. Chez l’homme, l’urètre se divise en urètre prostatique, membraneux et pénien.
