Résumé

Le cancer du sein chez l’homme est une tumeur rare: il représente moins de 1 % de tous les cancers du sein (15) et moins de 1 % de tous les cancers chez l’homme (15). Une des plus grandes études observationnelles sur le cancer du sein chez l’homme, utilisant les données de la base SEER américaine (Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results) a analysé près de 1500 cancers du sein chez l’homme en comparaison à plus de 216000 cancers du sein chez la femme. Les résultats font clairement apparaître des différences cliniques et histopronostiques par rapport à l’âge de survenue, la taille tumorale, l’envahissement ganglionnaire et la proportion de tumeurs exprimant des récepteurs aux oestrogènes (RE+) entre les malades hommes et femmes (6). Pourtant, la prise en charge quotidienne des cancers du sein chez l’homme s’appuie essentiellement sur les données scientifiques des études réalisées chez les femmes. Les études cliniques chez les hommes sont rares et regroupent une population hétérogène.
