Résumé
La localisation la plus fréquente des carcinomes à petites cellules est pulmonaire (90 % des cas). Ces tumeurs représentent 15 à 20 % des cancers bronchiques et sont caractérisées par un temps de doublement rapide, une dissémination métastatique précoce et une chimiosensibilité importante mais transitoire. Les carcinomes à petites cellules extrapulmonaires sont beaucoup plus rares, quarante fois moins fréquents que les carcinomes à petites cellules bronchopulmonaires (1), et ont des caractéristiques épidémiologiques, cliniques et évolutives différentes. Les données sur les carcinomes à petites cellules extrapulmonaires sont néanmoins limitées, puisque moins de dix séries de plus de vingt patients ont été rapportées dans la littérature (2–10).
