Abstrait
Le contrôle du poids corporel résulte ďun équilibre entre prise alimentaire (PA) et dépense énergétique (1–6). Il s’agit plus ďun contrôle que ďune régulation; ľindividu peut y échapper: s’interdire de manger ou dépasser sa faim. De nombreux facteurs, internes ou externes, participent à ce contrôle (fig. 1). Plusieurs définitions doivent être connues (7, 8):

La faim: état de motivation lié à un manque ďénergie, qui préside à ľinitiation de ľingestion: le sujet dit «il me faut quelque chose à manger».

=appétit: attrait pour un aliment, que le sujet ait faim ou pas: il dit«je désire manger ceci.» Ľappétit est un désir. Il est lié en partie à la faim.

Le rassasiement: décroissance de la faim. Il répond aux signaux qui mettent fin à ľingestion.

La setiété: absence de faim, de motivation pour la nourriture. Il s’agit ďune durée.
