Historical Writing on Meteorology: An Annotated Bibliography

  • Chapter
Historical Essays on Meteorology 1919–1995

Abstract

Since the pioneering work of the prolific German meteorologist, historian, and bibliographer Gustav Hellmann in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, there have been a number of very good books published on the history of meteorology. The annotated bibliography that follows excludes articles and, with the exception of two of Hellmann’s works published in the closing decades of the nineteenth century, discusses only books and dissertations on the history of meteorology published in the twentieth century.
