Abstract
The previous chapter provides an in-depth discussion of the emergence of rigorous programs for meteorology as a physical science in American universities. Growing acceptance of meteorology as a science came with the development of theory and three-dimensional observational systems for the atmosphere, as well as with the U.S. Government’s need to train people as meteorologists during World War II.
