Abstract

This paper is a review of the Workshop on Methods of Obtaining Winds and Densities from Radar Meteor Trail Returns, held in August 1966. Specific topics covered include the credibility of density determinations, accuracies of derived winds and wind shears, and progress in automatic data reduction. Locations of present and proposed sites are given along with detailed information on the six systems represented at the Workshop. Observation rates and height accuracies needed for synoptic, tidal, and gravity wave studies are compared with the present capabilities of these six systems.
