Instrumentation for Meteorological Observations of Importance to Hydrology and Climatology

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Meteorological Monographs ((METEOR,volume 11))

Abstract

The observational elements which are required for both hydrological and climatological data are reviewed. Some recent developments in instrumentation are discussed. These examples include rain and snow gages, a radar processor, evaporation pan, damped wind vane, wind component accumulator, and remote station networks. In conclusion, a plea is made for the development of sensors to be used with already highly-developed data processing systems.
