Abstract

Aneurysms and dissections are the major diseases affecting the aorta. Aneurysms are defined as arterial dilatations of approximately 1.5× the normal diameter and can be localized in the thoracic and abdominal aorta. The frequency of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) is 3–7 times higher than the frequency of thoracic aortic aneurysms (TAA).1
