Abstract
The nine most valuable aids to experiment from the use of dimensional analysis are examined in detail. This shows the great influence upon the design and economy of experiment, the clarity and ordering of the output data and the extension of the latter range of applicability. A standard and new validity test is derived.

Notes
- 1.
In physics it is usual to distinguish two regimes, the microscopic and the macroscopic: in fluid mechanics of gases three regimes are set as the free-molecule flow, the slip regime and the continuum regime.
