Abstract
Spondylolisthesis is the slipping forward of one vertebra and the spine above it upon the vertebra immediately below. When the condition first received orthopaedic attention in the latter half of the twentieth century, it was believed to be of congenital origin, but now it is recognized that several varieties exist, most being acquired.
