Abstract

In this first of five chapters on multimodal usability methods (Section 6.2.2), all methods presented make use of question-answering. Questions are being asked by members of the development team, answers are produced by potential or actual users, customers or experts. Question-answering is an excellent approach for collecting usability information when it is important to have many people answer a set of well-considered questions, and discussion is of little or no significance. Since all methods to be described make use of interviews or questionnaires, we first describe key aspects of interviews and questionnaires and then present six methods that make use of these techniques.
