Abstract
Nonseminomatous germ cell tumors of testicular origin can metastasize through hematogenous and lymphatic routes to sites outside of the retroperitoneum. Although the majority of these areas can be cured with cisplatin-based chemotherapy, extra retroperitoneal metastatectomy is occasionally required. This chapter reviews the indications for extra retroperitoneal metastatectomy and the specific surgical techniques for removal of intrathoracic disease.
