Abstract

The conception of pattern system design was presented in this paper after analyzing the existent pattern design methods in product development. Two pattern design methods having system characteristics were classified, that were process pattern and object pattern. A new pattern system design method was put forward with integrating process pattern and object pattern, which was Process-Object Integration (P-OI) pattern system design method. A group of design elements were abstracted which could reflect full objects and whole process, and then they were integrated into a system associated with each other according to some certain logical relation. The pattern system design method had many good characteristics: share, reuse, system standard, process and object integration, system open, etc. A new concept for developing product design method was provided, which can increase design efficiency, optimize design quality, and reduce development cost.
