Abstract
The end product of a computer graphics process is usually an image or sequence of images. This is so, by definition, in the area of image synthesis, where the goal is to generate an image according to certain criteria: photorealism, simulation, animation, and so on. The image may be displayed on a variety of devices, depending on the application. This chapter discusses certain problems arising in computer systems for image manipulation.
