Abstract

This chapter aims to introduce the technique of simulation modelling and define the type of simulation discussed in this text. The relevance of simulation to organisations is explained by reference to the behaviour of variability and interdependence shown by processes within organisational systems. The potential benefits and disadvantages of using simulation in the organisation are then discussed.
