The left ventricular cavity is dilated, and poor systolic function is noted. Evaluation of the myocardium demonstrates minimal thinning of the anterior wall at the mid-ventricular level and in the apex. Evaluation of the regional wall motion indicates the presence of hypokinesia of the basal anterior wall and anterolateral wall, progressing to dyskinesia of the true apex. Hypokinesia of the septum is noted beginning at the mid-ventricular level and progressing to severe hypokinesia at the apex.
