Abstract
This chapter presents four case studies which illustrate the applicability of the I&I technique to practical control design problems for electrical systems and in particular to the control of power electronic systems. First, we describe an application of the methodology in Section 3.1 to the design of a controller for a thyristor-controlled series capacitor (TCSC), which is a power electronic device that is used to regulate the power flow in an AC transmission line. Then, the results of Chapters 3, 5 and 6 are applied to the design of nonlinear adaptive controllers for single-phase power converters and an experimental study of their properties is carried out.
