Abstract
Radiotherapy as a routine treatment in patients with germinal cell cancers is offered to patients with early stages of seminomatous testicular cancers including clinical stage I and stage IIA and limited stage IIB disease. The rationale for radiotherapy in the management of seminoma with limited lymph node metastasis is its extreme sensitivity to radiotherapy, and the stepwise dissemination of tumor cells through lymphatics in the retroperitoneum (1). Radiotherapy, therefore, induces high cure rates in patients with low-volume seminomatous disease. Principles of management of various stages of testicular germ cell tumors (TGCTs), including relapse, is discussed in Chapter 17.1.
