Abstract

The primary intent of this chapter is to survey the main standardization initiatives that are relevant in the context of mobile Java platforms and their security. We will discuss the work conducted at the Java Community Process (JCP) and the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA). These organizations have been chosen because of their leading and active role in the area of mobile Java security. In what follows, we will briefly present each of these organizations before presenting the underlying standardization activities.
