Abstract
Examination of POP should aim at reproducing a patient’s own observation. Assessment should separate between quality (which organ is prolapsed?) and quantity (what is the extent?) of POP. The ICS prolapse staging system is a validated and necessary tool for any studies on the treatment of POP. POP stage I and II are very common in women after vaginal childbirth and very rarely are the origin of symptoms.
