Abstract
In addition to the technological advances in fiberoptic telescopes, the evolution of ancillary equipment for ureteroscopy has been crucial to the development of endoscopy as a subspecialty within Urology. Angled catheters and guidewires are two essential tools that have enabled Endourologists to perform advanced maneuvers, thus broadening the diagnostic and therapeutic indications for ureteroscopy.
The following chapter describes the various types of guidewires and angled catheters, including their sizes, shapes, and compositions. Clinical scenarios are also detailed in which different wires and catheters are used in difficult situations.
