Primary Cardiac Tumors in the Pediatric Age

Cardiac Tumor Pathology

Abstract

Primary cardiac tumors are rare in pediatrics, with an estimated incidence of 0.2 % in echocardiographic series. Prenatal diagnosis has been estimated in up to 40 % of cases. Due to their rarity, there are very few institutional series and most knowledge is based on collections of case reports. We discuss all most common histotypes providing pathological and clinical information. Clinical and surgical management is discussed and outcomes are provided.
