Abstract

As advances are made in the treatment of lung cancer with new chemotherapeutic regimens and agents, heightened awareness must be paid to the potential for drug-related lung injury. However, making the diagnosis of chemotherapy-induced lung injury is challenging, as it is nearly always a diagnosis of exclusion. Early detection of drug-related injury is critical as in many cases complete recovery will occur with removal of the offending agent. The combination of a high level of clinical suspicion, radiographic findings, and pathologic abnormalities all play a role in establishing a diagnosis of chemotherapy-related lung injury.
