Abstract
This chapter discusses the types of length and sequence variation encountered in the human genome that can be used to distinguish donor from recipient cells in stem cell transplantation monitoring. The development of chimerism assays based on short tandem repeats (STRs), and the recent use of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) to detect microchimerism are summarized.
