Abstract
The electrophysiology study is central to the field of cardiac electrophysiology. This chapter begins by describing maneuvers performed in a basic electrophysiology study. Indications for an electrophysiology study are then discussed. They include (1) evaluation of syncope, (2) diagnosis of an arrhythmia, (3) evaluation of patients with Wolff–Parkinson–White, and (4) risk stratification of sudden cardiac death. The role of EP studies in non-ischemic cardiomyopathies is also addressed.
