Long-Term Care Medicine

Part of the book series: Current Clinical Practice ((CCP))

Abstract

The management of medical conditions in the frail elderly population that resides in long-term care (LTC) can be quite challenging. This chapter touches on some of the common clinical conditions that are frequently encountered in residents of the LTC continuum. This discussion focuses on the frail elderly LTC resident. The treatment and especially the treatment goals of these conditions in the frail elderly resident often differ from those of other patient settings and populations.
