Summary
Lesions inside the oral cavity can be associated with a number of systemic conditions, representing important indicators of active disease or heralding the onset of disease. Recognition of such lesions may facilitate prompt diagnosis and treatment of underlying disease with overall improvement in patients’ quality of life. In some cases, oral findings persist despite adequate systemic management of disease, necessitating targeted ancillary care measures. This chapter reviews the presentation and management of oral findings that may be seen in association with systemic conditions, including autoimmune, gastrointestinal, and granulomatous disorders.
