Summary

Knowledge of normal anatomy and physio­logy of the oral cavity provides a basis for understanding and recognizing pathology. This chapter provides a review and overview of surface landmarks and underlying anatomy of the oral cavity in the context of diagnosing conditions that are detailed throughout the remainder of the book. The oral mucosa, palate, tongue, floor of mouth, dentition, salivary glands, and cervical lymphatic drainage are specifically highlighted.
