Abstract

Pararenal abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) are classified as to being juxtarenal or suprarenal. They account for 2–7% of all aortic aneurysms, with men affected twice as often as women. Precise anatomic imaging with computed tomographic arteriograms or conventional aortogra phy is required for optimal surgical therapy. The morbidity of open surgical repair is most often related to renal insufficiency. The operative mortality averages 5% being slightly greater than that accompanying open infrarenal aortic aneurysmectomy.
