Prostate Biopsy

Part of the book series: Current Clinical Urology ((CCU))

Abstract

Prostate biopsy has evolved to the current transrectal ultrasound—guided, multiple systematic biopsy scheme. In this chapter, the basics of prostate biopsy, and various current biopsy procedures including transrectal, transperineal, and transurethral are discussed. Biopsy techniques in special patient groups, such as biopsy after radical prostatectomy and abdominoperineal resection of the rectum, are also discussed.
