Abstract

The gold standard therapy for muscle invasive urothelial carcinoma of the bladder in women is radical cystectomy with anterior pelvic exenteration which involves removal of the lymph nodes, uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, bladder, anterior vaginal wall and urethra. For all women there is much concern about sexual function and quality of life after cystectomy and urinary diversion. In this chapter we will explore the advances made in preservation of the reproductive organs in females and review the current rates of concomitant involvement of each with urothelial carcinoma.
