Abstract
Chapter 9 presents the very important topic of identification. Introductory comments discuss the importance of establishing and following specific identification protocols when dealing with dead bodies. Non-scientific methods of identification (visual identification and hospital identification) are presented, as are scientific methods (fingerprint, dental, X-ray, DNA). The chapter concludes by discussing circumstantial identification and unidentified remains.
